May is Museum Month

Showcase Ontario’s museums!

May is Museum Month / Mai, moi des musées is a program of the Ontario Museum Association and celebrated by Ontario’s 700+ museums, galleries, and heritage sites. It is an opportunity to celebrate the vital contributions of museums to Ontario, celebrate the work of staff and volunteers, spread the word on events & exhibits and to kick-off 2025’s summer tourism season!

Thank you to participants who have been engaged with this year’s campaign. May is Museum Month coincides with ICOM’s International Museum Day on May 18th. This year’s theme, “The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities”, invites us to reimagine the role of museums as essential connectors, innovators, and stewards of cultural identity. This year also marks the 25th anniversary of May is Museum Month, and to celebrate we’ve chosen the theme Discover Ontario’s Museums, encouraging you to explore and develop it in ways that best reflect your site and organization.
