The Brockville Museum seeks a recent museum studies graduate to act as Assistant Collections Technician to help inventory, reorganize and catalogue a collection of large objects. The position is temporary full time position (internship). The internship runs Monday to Friday, from June 2, 2025, to November 7, 2025 (35 hours per week).

Under the supervision of the museum Collections Coordinator, the Assistant Collections Technician will conduct an inventory of objects stored in an offsite warehouse, help organize the space, assess object condition, photograph, and catalogue objects using the museum’s online Collections Management System (MINISIS).

The Assistant Collections Technician will be a recent graduate from a museum studies program or related field with demonstrated technical knowledge of museological practices, including cataloguing and collection management techniques as well as sound understanding of proper handling of artifacts. Experience working with a collection management system is an asset.

Candidates must demonstrate superior attention to detail, comfort navigating Windows operating system and Microsoft Word and Excel, comfort working independently, and problem solving and critical thinking skills. Candidates must be able to perform medium physical labour, including lifting and carrying objects and boxes weighing up to 40 pounds and demonstrate a commitment to adhering to health and safety practices.

As this position requires regular travel between the museum and its off-site storage facility (a distance of 2.2 kilometres), a valid ‘G’ Driver’s License and ability to provide own transportation is required (mileage will be reimbursed).

Must meet Young Canada Works Building Careers in Heritage criteria, including being a recent graduate under the age of 30.
