The Canadian Canoe Museum is located on the Traditional Territory of the Williams Treaties First Nations in Peterborough, Ontario. For more than 25 years, the Museum has stewarded the world’s largest, most significant collection of canoes, kayaks, and paddled watercraft. As part of our responsibility for this one-of-a-kind collection, we have built it a new home along the water’s edge.

Inspired by the collection and grounded in our collaborative relationships, we share stories and create authentic experiences that facilitate connection, curiosity, and new understandings of our cultural and natural world. It is our vision to connect people to the water, to the land, and to each other.

The Opportunity
To match the expanding profile and growth of The Canadian Canoe Museum, we are seeking a Digital Marketing Coordinator to create and implement marketing content and campaigns across a wide range of platforms.

Status:  37.5 hours per week, with weekend and evening work occasionally required

Compensation range: $45,000-$53,000 annually, commensurate with experience

What you will do

Through the creation, curation, and dissemination of compelling content, the Digital Marketing Coordinator will support the achievement of the organization’s goals. Social media savvy and superior technical skills, along with the ability to connect and converse online, are among the requirements of this role.

      Launch and lead digital marketing campaigns across social media, email, and the internet.

      Create compelling content for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, website — and everything in between.

      Keep our website fresh, engaging, and SEO-friendly.

      Plan, shoot, and edit video content for social media that tells powerful stories.

      Collaborate with teammates to align messaging and maximize impact.

      Stay on top of trends and tools — and use them to push our digital presence forward.

      Manage ad campaigns (Google, Meta, LinkedIn) and track performance like a boss.

      Analyzing and reporting on KPIs and metrics for advertising, media, public relations, website, social media, and newsletters

 

Tools You’ll Use:

      Meta Business Suite, Constant Contact, WordPress, Google Analytics & Ads.

      Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

What you bring

You’re a storyteller through and through, and like nothing better than spreading the word far and wide. You’re curious – and ask questions to find the extraordinary in the everyday. You bring energy and enthusiasm to everything you do and you’re eager to explore (and share!) how the canoe can connect us all.

Valued skills:

  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in digital marketing or social media.
  • Killer content creation skills (show us what you’ve got!).
  • Super organized and tech-savvy — Canva and Adobe Suite are your playground.
  • Video production chops are a bonus.
  • A heart for story and a passion for the Canoe Museum’s mission.
  • Comfort and experience working with Indigenous communities.
  • Able to work well in a busy office environment, as well as demonstrated ability to work to high standards independently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications required, (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Forms, Google Drive).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Bilingualism an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline preferred.
