The City of Port Colborne, located on the south coast of the scenic Niagara region, Niagara’s Port of Call has found the perfect balance – successful industrial and commercial sectors, comfortable and scenic residential areas, white sand beaches, unique culinary choices, the world class Sugarloaf Marina, fishing, golfing, trails, shopping districts along the historic Welland Canal – truly a community that adds to the overall Niagara Experience.

The Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum, is just a block away from the southern terminus of the Welland Ship Canal in the Niagara Region. The Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the documentary history of Port Colborne and has completed a project of recording oral histories with members of the local Francophone Community. We are looking for a Francophone Exhibit Designer to use this content to create an exhibit and travelling exhibition showcasing the Francophone involvement in Port Colborne’s history. The content will need to be presented in both French and English languages. While this project will be largely completed by the Francophone Exhibit Designer, Museum staff will assist with marketing, making connections with community partners and assisting with artifact handling.

Qualifications:

  • Must be bilingual (French and English)
  • Strong technological skills
  • Previous museum experience is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a museum/educational setting

“Raconter Nos Histoires” exhibit and outreach is grant funded through the Museum Assistance Program and will be a 10 month (44 weeks) project, starting May 26, 2025 and ending March 27, 2026.  You will work 30 hours per week at a rate of $24.00 per hour.
