Working under the direction of the Curator, the Elgin County Museum has a contract position available to assist with on-going review of the existing collection.
Key Responsibilities:
•Review of artifacts relative to the museum’s mandate and acquisition policies with recommendations regarding future retention or deaccessioning.
•Review of database entries and donor records.
•Conservation / preservation assessments with recommendations regarding storage methods.
•Provide front line customer service and assist with museum programming as needed.
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Tuesday to Saturday)
Salary: $25.00 per hour; 1,200 total hours to be worked
Effective: January 6, 2025 to December 19, 2025
Criminal Record Check is required for this position.
Qualifications:
•Post-Secondary degree required, with advanced training in museum curatorial practices and methods at the post-secondary level.
•Previous museum experience, including collection management responsibilities.
•Demonstrated research and writing ability.
