As a contract faculty member with the Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management programs, you will play a key role in promoting academic excellence, creating an effective learning environment. As a professor in the conservation program, you will be expected to contribute to the discipline by developing relevant, program-aligned curricula, contribute to cross college discussions, develop student skills and play an effective role with the teaching team, integrating innovative learning strategies and outcomes. Student assignments involve real world tasks and goals that are relevant to learner needs.

Qualifications:
You possess a university degree in an academic discipline relevant to the heritage sector (archaeology, anthropology, history, fine arts, art history, museum studies) and a post-graduate qualification specifically in artifact conservation. The successful candidate will have a background in both preventative and treatment conservation with a speciality in object conservation and a wide-ranging knowledge of material types (metals, ceramics, glass, wood, leather, paper and/or textiles). Strong knowledge of technological manufacturing processes and the history of technology, as well as a minimum of 5-years experience using lab treatment methods is required.
Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to create positive learning experiences for diverse learners. The ability to be flexible, adaptable and creative with both students and community partners is essential. Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching experience at post secondary institutions and consideration will be given to those with other forms of education delivery.
This role requires self-motivation, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a passion for learning and for supporting student success. Good organizational and time management skills plus the ability to work independently as well as within a team-based environment are required. Our courses are strongly interlinked and all faculty work as a team to create an overall program of learning across courses. Demonstrated critical-thinking skills with the ability to apply a creative, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving is a must. Our ideal candidate is flexible, adaptable and has the ability to remain current within a constantly changing environment. You are comfortable working with technology and are proficient in a variety of computer applications including word processing, presentation, e-mail, learning management systems, online learning applications and various web applications.
Please Note: This position is designated as on-campus and is expected on-site 100% of the time. Classes are held at the Sutherland campus in Peterborough, Ontario. Due to year-round delivery of programs, teaching may be assigned through fall, winter and summer semesters.
Salary Range
As per the part-time, salary grid, hourly wage range of $80.62-102.83 depending on previous experience and based on number of hours spent teaching (part time is from 1-6 hours).
