The Welland Museum is recruiting an energetic person seeking to gain first-hand experience in developing and delivering educational programming. If you value teamwork, respect, honesty, and commitment consider joining a team of dedicated professionals with a passion for community and heritage.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver educational programming to be delivered for schools at both the Museum and on location at schools meeting the needs of the Ontario Curriculum
- Develop and deliver summer camp programming
- Create budgets for programming
- Source materials for programs
- Develop marketing materials for school programs
- Connect with community agencies for speakers/workshop options or to promote programming
- Collect feedback and self evaluate the success of programs
Job Requirements - Excellent communication skills with a wide audience base are essential
- Enjoys working with children
- Computer skills including knowledge of social media platforms, and Canva are vital
- Knowledge of PastPerfect and WordPress are assets
- Excellent time management skills
- Must be able to speak in both English and French
Education & Experience: - Candidate must have completed a post-secondary degree. The ideal candidate will be a French-speaking FNMI university graduate from History, Geography, Anthropology, Archelogy, Children and Youth Studies, Indigenous Studies, Linguistics, Education, or related field.
Working Conditions: The job may require extensive lifting and work in dusty environments.
An individual may be eligible for an internship if they: are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible); are legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number); are between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and are a college or university graduate (certificate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctorate). Note: Priority will be given to graduates who have not previously participated in YCW internship programs and who are unemployed or underemployed.
