We are looking for a Project Manager, Electrical and Mechanical Technology. The incumbent plans, organizes and controls design and construction projects and studies. Supervises the conception and construction of projects to meet short-term, medium-term and life-cycle building requirements primarily related to electrical and mechanical systems associated with all Canadian Museum of History (CMH) and Canadian War Museum (CWM) properties.

Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in:

  • Managing  electrical and mechanical projects and construction in all phases of development as well as operations and maintenance in an aging building environment – In-depth experience in electrical systems management will be considered an asset; 
  • Analysis of needs;
  • Resolution of complex design or technical issues;
  • Managing engineering consultants and construction contractors;
  • Managing financial resources;
  • Negotiations.

Knowledge of:

  • Industry practices relating to electrical design and the management of electrical & mechanical consultants and construction contracts;
  • Building systems such as Fire alarm, Heating Ventilation and Air Cooling (HVAC) and lighting systems 
  • General principles of project management;
  • Industry standards and practices in contracting with professionals such as Architects, Engineers and with construction contractors;
  • The accommodation delivery process from pre-planning, project definition and programming, through design, construction and commissioning;
  • The basic tools, equipment, machines, materials, practices and techniques related to design, construction, and maintenance of systems for buildings mainly in the institutional and commercial categories;
  • Building codes;
  • Computer programs in the MS Office Suite (Project, Word, Excel and Outlook).

Education: Post secondary diploma in a related field of building engineering or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
