Land Acknowledgement
As an organization of provincial scope, the Ontario Museum Association recognizes that its members and community live and work on the lands and territories of Indigenous Peoples.
We are thankful to the First Nations, Métis and Inuit people who have cared for these territories since time immemorial and who continue to contribute to all communities across the province.
We acknowledge that there are more than 40 treaties and other land agreements that cover Ontario, and that the descendants and cultures of the first peoples who lived here are a vibrant and integral part of our society today.
We gratefully acknowledge and deeply value the opportunity we have to learn from and cherish the contributions of Indigenous Peoples of the past, present and into the future.
As we acknowledge the colonial legacy of museums, we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
